PALAPYE: Kwenasebele Modukanele has been elected the new president of Botswana Sector of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) after garnering 147 votes ahead of Caterpillar Hikuana and Shylot Tshireletso who got 89 and 32 votes respectively.

Modukanele, who is the former BOSETU secretary general, emerged the winner at the organisation’s triennial elective congress, which also marked BOSETU’s 10th anniversary in Palapye on Tuesday.

Modukanele succeeds Shandukani Hlabano who served two consecutive terms. “I feel humbled to be given this high position within the union structures and I am committed together with my committee to deliver on the mandate of the union. If we do not deliver, the constitution empowers you (members) to recall us,” he said.
