Mochudi woman jailed for concealing birth

A 25-year-old woman of Mochudi has been arrested for concealment of birth. The woman allegedly concealed the birth on Thursday last week at Maratadiba Lands on the outskirts of Tlokweng-where she had been visiting her boyfriend.

Tlokweng Police Station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari said the suspect returned home to Mochudi, whereupon arrival, was interrogated by her parents on what happened to her seven-month pregnancy that was no longer visible. "She disclosed to have concealed the birth and her parents reported the matter to the police. On Saturday, she managed to lead the police to the scene where they managed to dig up and retrieve the foetus from a shallow grave," he said. Rari added investigations are ongoing to establish a sequence of events.
