Cleft lip and cleft palate are birth defects that occur when a baby’s lip or mouth does not form properly during pregnancy.Thursday afternoon turned out to be a joyous one for the Ntloyakhumo family, as they waited patiently for the return of baby Marang who had been sent to Johannesburg (South Africa) for plastic surgery. The elated family could not take their eyes off Marang. The baby’s great grandmother Kani, expressed happiness at seeing her grandchild looking normal. She said there were no words to express her joy and gratitude to Masitara for his generosity.
The baby’s happy mother, Wame, said she has never never been this happy in her life. She said she approached the Masitara Foundation after a family friend told her that it could help with costs. She was relieved when the foundation responded within a short period. Wame added that having a child with the defect was not an easy task. She told other parents with children facing the same problem to be strong.
