Manasa Breaks Zezuru Tradition

She now aims to reach the pinnacle of the country’s fashion industry. Manasa operates her business at Somerset Extension location in Francistown. She told The Monitor, that unlike in the past, their elders now encourage them to use government programmes.
“I started designing curtains, cushions and bedding but ever since I benefited from the poverty eradication programme, my business has grown significantly. I now design a wide range of clothes,” said Manasa whose business sells mostly to individuals. Manasa said in her culture children were not allowed to go to school because it was believed that it was a waste of time. Instead Bazezuru elders taught their children hand survival skills like carpentry from a tender age.
