Man allegedly torches girlfriend using petrol

FRANCISTOWN: A 41-year-old man from Hubona village appeared before Senior Magistrate Thapelo Buang today (Tuesday) for allegedly torching his girlfriend using petrol.

In the first count, the state alleges that Samuel Jambo, 41, committed an act to cause bodily harm to Pedzani Phuti on January 23 in Hubona. In the last charge, the state alleges that Jambo assaulted Phuti on January 3 in Hubona.

Jambo has pleaded not guilty to the offences and he has told the court that his family has secured an attorney to represent him in respect to the charges. Jambo, who is out on bail, will appear in court on August 3 for Case Management Conference. He was advised to make sure that he appears with his attorney during the next mention date.
