Urban Customary Court deputy president, Patricia Radipati acquitted a 24 year-old man, Kabelo Mangole who was charged with idling at night after he told the court that he was a psychiatric patient.

At first Mangole did not plead guilty of the offence. He told the court that he would not accept to be tried for idling, as he saw nothing wrong with what he did. He said that he wanted to collect some money from a certain relative who promised to give him money to go to Sbrana Psychiatrist Hospital in Lobatse.

Central Police Station constable Mmatli Koonethebe pleaded with the court to postpone the case as the police officers who apprehended the accused were off duty. He told the court that Mangole was arrested after he failed to give them concrete information as to why he was idling by Pop Inn mall at half past midnight on March 23, 2014.  The court learnt that the defendant made the police officers suspicious of him after he kept changing his statements.
