Botswana Democratic Party’s (BDP) former Member of Parliament for Mmathethe/Molapowabojang, Alfred Madigele has dropped out of the race for the party secretary-general position to pave the way for Kavis Kario, The Monitor has learnt.

This is ahead of the BDP going for its upcoming elective congress in August. According to information The Monitor gathered, Kario received blessings from some in the party's leadership. Shaw Kgathi is the one that might challenge Kario, a former Cabinet member and MP for Selebi-Phikwe West.

Again, his team is led by the current chairperson, Slumber Tsogwane who wants to retain his seat as he will be challenged by former MP for Selebi-Phikwe West, Nonofo Molefhi.
