The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism Kitso Mokaila has refused to announce the date when maintenance work on the Makgadikgadi Game Park fence will start.

The fence is meant to control the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in the Boteti region. Yesterday Boteti North MP, Slumber Tsogwane asked Mokaila to state when maintenance of the fence would be commissioned and the date of completion.

Parliament heard that if the fence is not maintained there is a high risk of further spread of the disease that has so far found its way into the Zone 6 (Mmadinare) and Zone 7 (the North East District) areas of the country partly because of damaged fences.
