LERALA: Lerala residents on Tuesday called for their chief Sello Moroka to be relieved of his duties in a petition to the Minister of Local Government, Lebonaamang Mokalake.

About 200 residents engaged in a demonstration where they braved the scorching sun as they displayed placards that called for Kgosi Moroka to step down. The placards carried messages that read "O re lapisitse, Lerala ke wa rona, kgosi ke kgosi ka batho" among others. They sang songs like "Ntle le go tlotla morafe ga o kake wa bo bona bogosi jwa Lerala".

They proceeded from the village clinic and passed through the kgotla to the MP's office where they handed in the petition. The petition, that was read out by Boetelo Malope residents, indicated that they are unhappy with the Kgosi's system of leadership and noted that whenever there is an issue to be resolved the kgosi involves the police who will question those involved.
