The old Gaborone City Council (GCC) beer garden in Bontleng has become an eyesore after it was extensively vandalised. Everything from the roofing, window frames, door-frames, wiring, sockets, fencing and toilet facilities have been ripped out and the place once known as ‘ko flateng’ turned into a garbage dump and illegal ablution.

The small one-storey building used to be a popular joint in Gaborone in the 1970s and 1980s when there were not many bars in the city and most revellers guzzled chibuku.
