Khawa chief accused of meddling in BDP politics

TSABONG: Two weeks before the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary elections, a village chief in Kgalagadi South constituency has been accused of political bias.

Kgosi Piet Manyoro of Khawa has been reported to Kgalagadi District Commissioner by the BDP ward committee after accusations that he was campaigning for some candidates.

In a letter dated October 10, 2013 signed by the ward chairperson, Magdeline Manyoro, vice chairperson Seitiso Velskoen and members Cathrine Bok and Jacob Velskoen, the committee says that the chief has been telling villagers who to vote for in the BDP primary elections on November 23. The letter is copied to the Kgalagadi South BDP Regional Committee.
