Kgafela Smiles As Premier Rejects Commission Report

South Africa’s North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo has rejected a report by a commission he appointed recently to look into the ongoing power struggle between Kgafela Kgafela II and Nyalala Pilane.

Mahumapelo said the commission has sidelined Botswana-based Bakgatla. The premier said the report he signed recently has serious omissions and commissions that he only learnt of. At the forefront of his reservations, the premier wants the commission to involve Mochudi-based Bakgatla who the commission had sidelined. 

Bakgatla base in Botswana posit that the tribe is headquartered in and led from Mochudi. Their South African counterparts, however, have turned the tables and want a break-away, arguing that Kgosi Kgafela is not their leader and should return to Botswana.
