Kweneng District councillors are not happy that their council has acquired motorcycles to be used by social workers, bye-law officers and community development officers.

The councillors have since accused the council secretariat of lacking consultation and doing things without engaging them. They have since vowed to move to raise the issue in council and stop it.

According to the Botswana Land Boards Local Authorities Workers Union (BLLAHWU) Molepolole branch chairperson, Kudzani David, the union has since registered a complaint with the management of KDC over the council’s intention to have employees use motorbikes/quad bikes on duty.  In a letter he wrote to the council secretary Tsholofelo Molaodi last week, David said they understood the procurement of such bikes is almost complete while they have not been engaged as employee representatives in the workplace despite amending member’s conditions of service outside a bargaining structure.
