Former football administrator, Elijah Katse, defeated former Specially Elected MP, Shirley Segokgo in the primary elections held over the weekend. He will represent the BDP in the 2009 general elections in the South East North constituency. The other candidate was Walter Dube.

A losing candidate in the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary elections for South East North constituency, Walter Dube failed to turn up when the results were announced. The primary elections for South East North and other constituencies which are held by the opposition parties were conducted on Saturday. The party also conducted the primaries for council wards which are held by the opposition.

One of the election officers said Dube started complaining on Friday even before the elections were conducted. The election officer said this was not a good spirit for the party.
