SHAKAWE: Former Deputy Commissioner of Police and diplomat Kenny Kapinga was the highlight of the Botswana Congress Party’s (BCP) weekend conference held here, drawing loud chants of support from delegates.

Just two days after quitting the public service, and returning home from duty as Botswana’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, Kapinga was a guest speaker at a BCP event held to honour one of the party icons, former Okavango Member of Parliament (MP) Joseph Kavindama. The event was held in Kauxwi village near Shakawe.

His appearance came amidst widespread reports that Kapinga could mount a bid to represent the BCP in the area in the 2019 general elections.
