Judge orders magistrate to decide bail for accused

Acting Judge Jennifer Dube has rebuked the Molepolole magistrate for his decision in a ritual murder case.

Dube ruled that the decision to hold the accused men in prison is unjustifiable and is using it to punish the accused person before conviction. Six men, including a bishop, are accused of brutally murdering an intern at the Molepolole Magistrate’s Court, allegedly for ritual purposes.

Two of the accused, Mojalemotho Mokate and Moetapele Kgololo, appealed to Dube after the presiding Magistrate Lindiwe Makgoro on December 17, 2015 decided that she would deliver her bail application ruling on the matter in March this year.
