Ivory summit to target 'the gang of eight'

Gaborone will next month host an emergency summit addressing the problems of the illegal ivory smuggling and poaching.

President Ian Khama will open the summit, which will be attended by some Heads of State, representatives of African elephant range countries and high-level representatives from transit and destination countries.

The summit aims to address the penalties for ivory trading, law enforcement, population monitoring and public awareness.
