The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has turned down Botswana Democratic Party's (BDP) appeal to endorse their preferred candidate for Francistown West, Ignatius Moswaane,.

This comes after the BDP wrote a letter to IEC demanding to know why it refused to register Moswaane’s name for nomination. In the party’s view, the IEC has erred since it was never a party to Moswaane’s case.

It holds that it abided by Justice Motshwagole ‘s court order that required them to hear Whyte Marobela’s appeal, which it did on Friday morning.
