IEC sets date for supplementary registration

Fresh from a lacklustre national voter registration exercise, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has set dates for supplementary registration. The commission has said that from February 21 to March 2, 2014 it will conduct another round of registration in a bid to get more voters.

The national voter registration, which ended last Sunday garnered 478,148 voters, far less than the 1.2 million target.

From the final national registration numbers, rural constituencies still emerged with higher numbers than urban centres. Information coming from the IEC indicates that Lerala-Maunatlala constituency leads in voter registration with 12,727 followed closely by Ngami with 12,428 and Sefhare-Ramokgonami with 11,770.
