IDM scoops 1st prize at Tertiary Education Fair

The Institute of Development Management (IDM), Botswana Campus scooped 1st prize at the just ended Botswana Tertiary Education Fair 2015 that was held at the Ditshupo Hall.

In a closely contested category for Best Local Public Institution, IDM humbled its fellow contestants by coming top of the group.

Amongst the things that the institution impressed the judging panel with, were the aesthetic and ambience of its stall, the information given to the visitors and the high level of customer service which the IDM team showered its stall guests with. Moreover, the course offerings given by IDM attracted both form five holders and the working class to visit stall 82-87 endlessly as they sought a better and tested training partner that has a clear legacy.

The institute offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, which are accredited by the Botswana Qualifications Authority(BQA). In 2008, the IDM Botswana Campus became the first training institution in Botswana to be certified by the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) on ISO 9001:2008, and the institute continues to comply. At IDM, quality and continuous improvement are a virtue.

Established in 1974 by the three governments of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland, IDM’s star seems to shine brighter each day.  Its core mandate was to train in-service participants on management and business training interventions, consultancy and research activities across the SADC region. However, IDM has since incorporated pre-service training in its dynamic course offerings that are relevant for both the local and international job markets. Since 2007, it has graduated over 3,000 graduates who continue to ascend the management ladders of both government and the corporate world, due to the versatility of the programmes they had enrolled in.

Equally, IDM has over the years continued to be sought after by reputable international training partners and franchising bodies. To date, the institute’s training partners include the Association of Accounting Technicians (UK), University of Bolton, Indiana University (USA), Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS, UK), Malawi Institute of Management,  NCC Education, amongst others.

Courses offered at the Gaborone and Francistown campuses include the Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply, BSc Supply Chain, BA Accounting, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Community Development, Bachelor of Public Health, Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, Diploma in Archives and Records Administration, MSc Project Management, amongst others.
