Outgoing BTU President Johannes Tshukudu, seeking a second term in office at the elective congress in Palapye this weekend, says his organisation has grown in leaps and bounds from 14,000 to over 19,000 members.

“ It is a sign of a stable organisation; one of my achievements has been to manage tensions that arose during the run up to the last elective congress in 2013 which saw highly polarised factions; I’m a peaceful man, a priest of a spiritual church for 30 years now, and I love peace, as well as reaching out to my rivals”, added Tshukudu.

The Palapye elective congress comes after Tshukudu escaped a transfer from the teaching service to the Department of Roads. He instituted court proceedings and managed to halt the transfer, and thanks to his efforts, is now able to challenge again for the top post. He sees himself in the teaching fraternity for the foreseeable future.
