Gladys Ramothwa, the mother of the slain student, Africa Ramothwa, does not want any parent to go through her painful experience, she said, following the sentencing of her daughter's killer last week. "I do not want to see anybody experience what I have gone through. It is traumatic. It is very painful for us," she said.

Africa was killed by her boyfriend, Lebogang Mothudi, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment at the Lobatse High Court last week.

He accused her of infidelity.
When she was killed in 2003, Africa was studying food technology in Cape Town.  She was in Gaborone on a 12 months' attachment when she met her untimely death. Although she said she has forgiven her daughter' killer, Ramothwa expressed  dismay that he had the guts to tell untruths in his mitigating evidence. She likened his testimony to somebody who was reciting poetry.
