High Court upholds ex-policeman's sacking

A police officer who was dismissed from work on disciplinary grounds has suffered yet another blow. The Lobatse High Court recently threw out his application for reinstatement as a Botswana Police Service employee.

The court ruled that Lekgoa Mopai's dismissal by the disciplinary board and the former Botswana Police Commissioner Thebeyame Tsimako was rational and reasonable.

The court stressed that such decision was taken based on a proper guilty verdict reached by the disciplinary board, further noting that the former police commissioner had powers to dismiss an officer found guilty of the offence in question.
