The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) 2014 candidate in the Gaborone Central constituency, Rupert Hambira has accused party leadership, the constituency branch and former central committee of decampaigning him.

On Tuesday, during the BDP Council of Elders hearings into the BDP internal wars held at Maharaj conference centre, Hambira is said to have openly said he would have done well if some former central committee members had not de-campaigned him.

“What shocked the elders most was when Hambira was requested to make a comment on the issues that were said. Rather he rubbed salt to injury by accusing party leaders from the branch, region and central committee for his loss. Hambira said he could have done much better or won if the party had not had other activities in his area without involving him,” the source said.
