Following the torrential rain that left a trail of destruction across the country, The Grand Palm Hotel Casino Convention Resort trading as Peermont Botswana, employed its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme to restore the home of a family left devastated.
On Monday the hotel staff handed over a fully furnished house to the Kumakwane family, whose home houses three under-aged children and their grandparent.
After the devastating rains that wreaked havoc across the country, displacing 1,012 people and causing nine deaths, the family was left without accommodation. Recognising the urgency of their situation, the Grand Palm partnered with EAC to rebuild the family home.
Speaking at the handover event, General Manager at Grand Palm Keletso Bogatsu emphasised the importance of community-driven initiatives.

“At the heart of our CSI initiatives is the belief that no child should be without a safe place to call home. This project is a reminder that when we come together as a community, we can make a real and lasting impact," she said.
Kumakwane village chief, Opelo Seboni, commended the collaborative efforts and noted that this initiative is a reflection of the role in building stronger communities, especially at a time when families across the country continue to suffer the effects of natural disasters like flooding.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Lorato Basikere expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the assistance that has not only restored their home but also given them hope for a brighter future.
