Graduates to compete for jobs

Employment on first come first serve basis of graduates on the waiting list by Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM) will soon be a thing of the past.

According to DPSM boss Ruth Maphorisa, given the limited opportunities in Government, future recruitment into the Public Service will be on a competitive basis, as is the practice in the private sector.

Maphorisa said this would not abolish the waiting list, but rather all those who top the list would be examined before the best candidate is placed. Under the current system graduates who applied first are just placed into office without being interviewed.
