SELEBI-PHIKWE: Government has instituted an independent audit into the BCL mine accident that resulted in four employees losing their lives last Sunday evening.

Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who visited the mine on Tuesday to give condolences, said the audit will run parallel to the investigations by the Botswana Chamber of Mines and will look at how the accident happened and the necessary measures that should be taken to avert further loss of lives in future.  He said government will ensure that remedial action is taken without compromise and the minister of minerals, energy and water resources, Kitso Mokaila will commission the independent audit.

Masisi added that the private investigator has already been appointed and will start this week.
