Police are investigating an incident in which a 30-year-old woman of Goodhope Central ward was raped early morning Sunday at her residence after a night of drinking with the alleged suspect.

The police have shared that the pair met at the club, had a chat, and ended up pairing off for drinks. According to Goodhope’s acting police station commander, Assistant Superintendent Bigani Ntindi, the pair later proceeded to the victim’s home after she requested him to accompany her so she could wear a jacket. The incident was reported the same morning, prompting an immediate investigation to track down and apprehend the suspect who is still at large.

“The victim said after arriving at her residence, she went inside the house to wear a jacket and the suspect followed her inside,” Ntindi said. “He started demanding sex and forcefully raped her before leaving the crime scene. Investigations on the matter are ongoing to locate the suspect and establish what really transpired.”
