JWANENG: The fact that the Botswana government has a share in the Debswana Jwaneng Mine had Namibian President Hage Geingob, in awe. During the tour of the Mine on Tuesday, the president of desert sharing country with almost similar features, cultures, peoples and population, said the most important aspect is that the Botswana government has a share.

Even more appealing, he said, was that the government was involved in the running of the mine to ensure benefit to local citizens.

Geingob’s visit to the mine also offered a platform for him to benchmark on the partnership between De Beers and the Botswana government, a similar partnership to one which exists between Namibia and De Beers.
