Furious F/town BCP cllrs storm out of chambers

FRANCISTOWN: Visibly frustrated and furious Botswana Congress Party (BCP) councillors walked out of a full council meeting held here yesterday after a verbal altercation with the mayor, James Kgalajwe.

This was after they failed to get an explanation from the city mayor as to why the Francistown West constituency by-election, which was to be held on November 23, was postponed lastThursday to January next year.

Immediately after the opening prayer of the council meeting, Tabengwa Tabengwa of the BCP stood up and sought answers from the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) mayor Kgalajwe as to why the by-election was postponed. "As the city mayor, I think you are privy to information as to why the by-election was postponed or how a decision to postpone it to next year was reached.
