FRANCISTOWN: The contractor of the Francistown-Tonota 30-kilometre dual carriage China Railway Seventh Group has pleaded with Francistown City Council (FCC) for an extension in order to fully complete the project.

Already the road, which was supposed to have been completed in 36 weeks, is significantly behind time as it was supposed to have been handed over in October last year.  “The contractor has applied for an extension of time and we are still considering the request,” city mayor Sylvia Muzila said when opening the maiden 2016 ordinary full council meeting on Monday.

However, she stated that notable progress has been made in the construction of the road.
