Former ministers to get gratuities

The three percent salary increment for Members of the National Assembly and Cabinet will be backdated to 1 October 2012, following last week's enactment into law of the National Assembly (Salaries and Allowances) (Amendment) Act of 2013. The amended Act was passed into law by Parliament on 16 August 2013.

Under the new Amended act, the President will earn a salary at the rate of P498,828 per annum, the Vice President at P383,736 per annum while a Minister and the speaker of the National Assembly will earn a salary at the rate of P307,008 per annum.

Under the new Amended Act, an Assistant Minister, Deputy Speaker and the Leader of Opposition will earn P255,804 per year, while the government whip will earn P213,204 per annum. The Opposition whip will earn P206,796 per annum while any other Member of Parliament will earn P193,812 per annum.
