FRANCISTOWN: The city of Francistown is in mourning following the sudden death of former city mayor, and councillor for Phillip Matante ward, Shadreck Nyeku, who passed away on Monday evening.

The Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) councillor, who was also the Francistown regional chairperson collapsed during a party meeting held at Phatsimo Primary School and was declared dead on arrival in hospital.

Nyeku, who had served Francistown City Council (FCC) as a councillor from 2009, was once a member of the Botswana People’s Party (BPP), and later joined the ruling party before defecting to the BMD in 2010.
