Five nabbed following a spate of burglaries in Palapye

FRANCISTOWN: Police in Letlhakane have arrested five men in connection with a burglary case that occurred in December 2023.

The suspected burglars are alleged to be involved in a string of burglaries across Letlhakane policing area. According to Letlhakane station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu, the suspects were arrested on Wednesday after two guns, a 375 and a 3006 combination rifles were recovered by police in Palapye.

"Those arrested led the police to Letlhakane where an air gun and some ammunition were found," he said. The five suspects have been remanded pending investigations and the search for other missing properties. Maphephu said the police suspect that the arrested men are part of a criminal syndicate that has been targeting tuck shops and other small businesses in the area. He said criminals were stealing a wide range of items, including food and other valuables.
