Federation to empower citizens attaining self-reliance

FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Homeless and Poor People’s Federation has vowed to promote self-reliance amongst Batswana to limit dependency on government funds. In two weeks’ time the federation will host the International Forum for Botswana Homeless and Poor People in the second city under the theme, ‘Community participation for community development’.

The forum will be attended by eight countries within the SADC region being South Africa, Swaziland, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

A member of the federation, Batisani Mark told Mmegi there is a need to resuscitate the principle of self-reliance for the country to attain goals it aspires to. Mark said their federation strives to embrace the culture of self-reliance and economic development amongst Batswana.
