FCC to buy new refuse collection trucks

FRANCISTOWN: The Francistown City Council (FCC) will use its savings from tenders to buy new trucks to improve refuse collection.

The mayor, James Kgalajwe told Mmegi yesterday that they have saved P4.8 million from street cleaning and waste collection tenders, commonly known as ‘tlhometlhomela’. He said they will use the money to purchase three new refuse collection trucks.

Last year, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, through the FCC, cancelled a tender for street cleaning and waste collection in most locations in the city. Kgalajwe said he is confident that the new trucks will help in improving waste collection in the city.
