Families identify bus crash victims

SELEBI-PHIKWE- Selebi-Phikwe Police have confirmed that five people died in the Tuesday accident involving a Bamangwato bus and a truck. The accident occurred along Serule - Selebi-Phikwe road. Families of the deceased have identified four of their loved ones, whilst one is yet to be identified. Other victims were hospitalised and discharged yesterday.

Superintendent Lekgotla Rankwaila added that one of the victims has been referred to Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone in critical condition.  He added that investigations are continuing to establish the cause of the accident. Rankwaila sternly warned Facebook users to respect the traditional way of handling sensitive matters and to let relevant authorities deal with matters appropriately. 

He said posting grisly pictures of the scene of accident and exaggerating facts that have not been verified by relevant authorities is insensitive. "It is modern technology but let us use it in a proper manner," he added.  He further said that except for the fatal bus accident, there were no serious road carnages save for minor accidents without casualties. He noted that there were not many accident this holidays as compared to last year.
