'Emang Basadi stands for men too'

FRANCISTOWN: While Emang Basadi was formed to deal with issues of women, people should know that the organisation also offers services to men.

Speaking at a two-day workshop hosted at Tati River Lodge, to sensitise various organisations on gender violence and legal education the organisation’s Executive Director, Ida Mokereitane said; “Everyone, including men should feel free to seek assistance from us”.

She explained that Emang Basadi opened an office with five programmes in 1992. These were political awareness, legal aid and counselling centres, Emang Basetsana, Information, Documentation and Resource Centres, and Women Economic Empowerment which has 2,000 members. “The programme of legal aid and counselling was established by popular demand due to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) issues so that some people can help both the victim and the abuser,” she said.
