Elderly man meets tragic end in freak accident

Police in Mogoditshane are investigating an incident in which a 78-year-old man from Mmopane Block 1 died after being dragged by his vehicle on Saturday.

According to the Mogoditshane Police Station acting commander, Superintendent Mompoloki Ramaphoi, the deceased was attempting to start his Toyota Hilux with one leg on the gear whilst the other was partly outside the vehicle.

Ramaphoi explained that after the engine started, the vehicle accidentally moved off whilst the man was still in that position. He was dragged along by the moving vehicle until it eventually crashed into a tree.
