Justice Minister and Presidential hopeful Ndelu Seretse was among the chief casualties on Saturday as the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) lost five cabinet ministers in the party's primary elections North of Dibete on Saturday.

The weekend primaries also saw a total of eight sitting MPs and Ministers losing to challengers.

Seretse, a cousin to President Ian Khama lost to his traditional nemesis Kgotla Autlwetse and is joined in the fall by Foreign Affairs Minister Phandu Skelemani who also lost in the Francistown East primaries to councillor Buti Billy.
