The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Leatile Dambe has instructed the police to conduct further investigations into the killing of John Kalafatis.

Dambe has ordered the investigations to help her decide whether to prosecute the suspected killers. The police submitted their final report of the probe into the murder to her early this month. Kalafatis was gunned down by suspected state security agents in Extension 12 in Gaborone in May.

"The DPP has carefully studied the docket and consulted the Attorney General in accordance with section 51A (6) of the Constitution. On the basis of the information contained in the docket, the DPP has referred the docket back to the police with specific directions for further investigations, which will inform further legal action to be undertaken," the DPP principal public relations officer, Abigail Hlabano told Mmegi this week. She said the docket reached the DPP's office last week Wednesday.
