PALAPYE: Stigma is of outmost concern because it is both the cause and effect of secrecy and denial, which are both catalysts for HIV transmission.

As such many who are diagnosed with hHOV/AIDS always suffer in silence due to a fear of stigma hence limiting themselves the efficacy of HIV testing programs and controlling measures.

Only few people have the courage to declare their HIV positive status publicly while many continue to be gripped by stigma.
