The family of a 26-year-old man who died after sustaining fatal injuries while under police investigation have instituted legal proceedings against the Botswana Police, seeking half a million-pula compensation.

A representative of the family of deceased suspect, Tshupelo Bokang, says they want accountability from the government as the police have failed to provide answers of what transpired on that fateful night.

Tapiwa Thabano, who instituted the legal proceedings in her capacity as the guardian of Bokang’s two minor children, has filed a writ of summons seeking damages on grounds that the children has lost a source of and maintenance from their father.
