Debswana withholds suspended employees' names

Debswana Group public and corporate affairs manager, Esther Kanaimba-Senai has declined to divulge the names of employees who have been suspended, following the fatal accident at the Jwaneng mine, which claimed the life of Montshwari Raseiteo a fortnight ago.

She explained that releasing the names of the employees could expose them to public scrutiny and jeopardise ongoing investigations.

Kanaimba-Senai said her company would decide whether to share the information on the amount of losses incurred while the mine was closed after the accident, once investigations are complete. She added that such information might be treated as confidential.
