Debswana report 'too sensitive' for MPs

Information contained within the Debswana forensic report is too sensitive for Members of Parliament. Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water resources Ponatshego Kedikilwe told MPs yesterday that they would not be allowed access to the report of the forensic investigations conducted by the Botswana government on Debswana because that could harm the diamond enterprise.

Responding to a question from MP for Gaborone Central, Dumelang Saleshando yesterday Kedikilwe said the report contains sensitive and confidential commercial information, which cannot be disclosed.

"As you are aware Madam Speaker, the Botswana government has entered into commercial agreements with DeBeers, which regulates the operations of Debswana.
