DCEC unearths blatant corruption at Mogo Sub-landboard

It became easy for Mogoditshane Sub-lanboard (MSLB) staff to be open to bribery and deviant conduct due to the unrestricted interaction with land applicants who desperately needed land and had the means to bribe in an environment of weak internal controls, the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) has observed.

In December 2011 the DCEC auditors conducted a corruption audit at the MSLB. The purpose of the study was to assess the land allocation process and management at MSLB, in order to detect systematic weaknesses and recommend corrective measures to strengthen the system.

The assignment study focused on the period from 1993 to 2011 assessing the process of land allocation and management within the specified period.
