PALAPYE: Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund acting chief executive officer, Mpule Ditirwa has commended cyclists for impacting positively on the lives of Lotsane Senior Secondary School students.

Speaking during the school’s MVA Fund charity cycling event over the weekend, Ditirwa revealed that the school is among the Top 10 performing schools due to the cyclists’ contribution.  The event takes place annually with the aim of raising funds for the Connecting Classrooms initiative, in which some Lotsane students are sent to Charleston Academy in Scotland. Ditirwa applauded cyclists saying the event has grown from 2012.

“MVA’s relationship with Lotsane started in 2012 when we hosted a 20-kilometre (km) cycling event and today the event has grown in leaps and bounds to 180km making it one of the longest cycling events in the country. Today Lotsane is among the Top 10 performing schools in Botswana and there is no doubt that this partnership is bearing fruit,” Ditirwa said. She mentioned the importance of road safety saying it still remains their priority as the country continues to lose cyclists through road accidents, urging road users to be cautious. She said at MVA Fund they believe in education hence their relationship with Lotsane.
