A man who has been in jail at presidential pleasure for close to two decades is seeking a review of the decision. Old Naledi man, Abraham Sedumedi, now is his late 40s, was thrown in jail in July 1997 after being arrested for murder and subsequently kept in confinement as a criminal lunatic after he was convicted.

Sedumedi was a vibrant 30 year-old when he went to jail, but he now cuts a sorry figure of a 47 year-old man after 17 years ‘inside.’ He now wants his continued incarceration reviewed because he has never undergone a medical check up after he was thrown in jail.

He applied to the Court of Appeal (CoA) for leave to appeal but withdrew the matter because the route he had taken was not appropriate. Appearing before CoA judge Isaac Lesetedi, Sedumedi’s attorney Kabelo Nkwe of Nkwe Attorneys made an application to withdraw the matter.
