Court frees man accused of drunk driving

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Goitsemang Thabane walked out of Selebi-Phikwe Magistrates Court a free man on Monday after a case in which he was accused of driving drunken without a licence. The prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Collen Sinka, told the court that the accused was arrested and his breath specimen tested for alcohol.

The results showed that he was intoxicated and not fit to drive. Sinka said at a later stage, the accused’s younger brother presented himself to the police as the driver of the car, and not his brother.

Dismissing the case, Magistrate Ditebogo Ntuli said the prosecution had failed to furnish the court with the accused’s file after the prosecutor indicated that it went missing during the weekend.
