FRANCISTOWN: A Gudigwa man who hacked a couple to death will find out his sentence on June 28. However, Justice Zibani Makhwade has ruled that there are extenuating circumstances that made Kegategile Xhiego kill Xhatso Jackson and Brenda Julius using a home made axe on April 26, 2013 at Gudigwa village in the North West district.

Makhwade said the deceased’s low level of education and jealousy motivated Xhiego to kill the couple.

“The accused was not candid about how he killed the deceased. The accused and Julius were also having an affair. Xhiego was jealous of the accused having a love relationship with other people but he also had love affairs with others. The accused was not mature at the time he committed the offence. A mature person could have handled the matter differently,” said Makhwade. Previously, the investigating officer Inspector Douglas Khumalo revealed harrowing details of how the murder incidents happened.
